Howden Students Successful in Maths Challenge

A number of students from Howden School achieved notable success in the annual UK Mathematics Challenge run by the University of Leeds.  This is a challenge aimed at the highest achieving Maths students, with certificates being awarded only to the top scorers.  A total of 25 students received certificates, with 4 receiving Gold certificates, meaning their scores were in the top 6% of entrants, an outstanding achievement.  One student in Year 11 achieved the highest score in the school and a Year 9 student scored so highly in her age group, that she has been invited to take part in a follow up competition, the European wide ‘Pink Kangaroo’. This is a competition with 3 million school students taking part across Europe.  It is only the second time a Howden School student has been invited to take part and is a notable achievement on her part.  Well done to all those who participated.
