On Monday 19th July Howden School, along with 18 others from across the county, met to compete in the annual East Riding Athletic Championships at Costello Stadium, Hull. The 47 strong team of athletes aged between 11 and 15 performed exceptionally well in very hot and humid conditions.

The school achieved some excellent results at the Championships with students earning placings in 16 different events across four age groups. Bronze medals were awarded to Carl Williams (Long jump and triple jump), Travis Weaver (100m), Emma Holt (100m) and Katie Garland (Discus) Recipients of Silver medals were Andrew Morgan Harrison (100m), Jon Boardman (800m), Emma Holt (200m), Dempsey Walsh (200m), Cameron Featherstone (800m), Alice De Little (100m), Emily Rice (200m), Kieran Dinsdale (100m) and Curtis Alden (400m). Two HSTC students were crowned East Riding Athletic Champions, Travis Weaver (High jump) and Dempsey Walsh (100m)

All participants were a credit to themselves and Howden School with their outstanding behaviour, positive attitudes and team spirit. Well done to all those who took part!
